I wasn’t much for large social gatherings before the pandemic hit and I wasn’t a part of any special interest house on campus. But every time I was invited to a party held at one there was always that one person who wanted a bit more excitement, much to the chagrin of their hosts. It was at this point I realized so far this comic strip was unrealistic not because of the weird cartoonish crimes that happened at the drop of a hat but because of how verbose my college peers could be during any given conversation. Let's call that code-switching!
I have many memories of my computer science labs and almost none of them are good. Collaboration is an essential skill but during the late nights in the lab, with the fluorescent lights humming above, your fingers dully resounding across the keyboard recompiling code for the umpteenth time in a row, and feeling you and your lab partners over your shoulders slowly go mad and delirious, you have to wonder: is it worth it?
But I’m a chump so don’t let me tell you otherwise if you like working on object oriented programming with new-found coding buddies.
